Their Story is Our Story internships provide an opportunity to facilitate integration within educational communities and allow both refugees and non-refugees the opportunity to receive technical and professional training.

IMPORTANT: This internship offers valuable experience, but does not include enough hours to qualify for English internship credit.

Working within diverse and integrated teams, interns are provided with an opportunity to:
- be in close proximity to new ideas;
- receive mentorship in project management, writing, editing, and story-production, as well as in transcribing and translating interviews;
- work with a suite of professional software;
- foster friendships and employment networking opportunities.

All interns interact with content from and create products for the TSOS pillars of advocacy, education, and integration.

TSOS INTERNSHIPS

Internships are virtual and last for 8 weeks (Feb. 28-April 18).

All internships require a commitment of no more than 5 hours of work per week.

The program is open to anyone age 18 and older who is currently working toward an education goal and/or is enrolled in (or is a recent graduate of) a higher education program.

Interns are awarded a $300 stipend upon successful completion of the program.

AREAS WHERE INTERNS WORK

Advocacy - Interns will help with research and legislative tool kits for advocacy purposes.

Community Programs - Interns will help with the transcription and translation of interviews conducted locally. Language skills in English and a second language, including but not limited to Spanish, Farsi, Dari, Pashto, French, German, Italian, and Arabic is needed.

External Media - Interns will deliver video and written content for social media. They will also strategize to improve viewer engagement with TSOS media.

Marketing and Public Relations - Interns will learn about Search Engine Optimization (SEO), then write blog posts, emails and other messaging that increases traffic to the website.

Think Tank/Thought Leadership - Interns will research and draft briefs, publications, and any other materials as needed to provide context and support the thought leadership of the TSOS's newly created Think Tank.

Social Media Intern/Volunteer

We are looking for a well-organized, self-motivated, reliable and committed person to help with our social media accounts. As a social media intern or volunteer, you will focus on supporting UVR’s advocacy strategy and campaigns by researching relevant content and creating new content to publish to UVR's Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, and TikTok accounts. You will work with a team responsible for image selection, caption and content writing, and some photography at UVR events. You will also be communicating to the public via answering DMs. This is an excellent opportunity to gain experience working with a professional staff in an enthusiastic, community-based non-profit organization.

Housing Program and Policy Research Internship

Salt Lake City’s Department of Community and Neighborhoods (CAN) is implementing two housing plans: Housing SLC, our five-year moderate-income housing plan; and Thriving in Place, our anti-displacement plan. CAN is seeking an intern that is interested in local government’s role in housing to further the commitments made in those two housing plans. This position will help research, develop, and implement strategies and actions to further the City’s commitments made in the two housing plans.
