Social Media Intern/Volunteer

We are looking for a well-organized, self-motivated, reliable and committed person to help with our social media accounts. As a social media intern or volunteer, you will focus on supporting UVR’s advocacy strategy and campaigns by researching relevant content and creating new content to publish to UVR's Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, and TikTok accounts. You will work with a team responsible for image selection, caption and content writing, and some photography at UVR events. You will also be communicating to the public via answering DMs. This is an excellent opportunity to gain experience working with a professional staff in an enthusiastic, community-based non-profit organization.

Organization Overview

Established in 2016, Utah Valley Refugees (UVR) is a private, nonprofit organization under Section 501(c)3 of the IRS Code and is a collaborative community partnership that works to improve lives of refugees adjusting to life in Utah County. We provide services such as affordable housing and medical care, employment, and educational services for qualified low-income refugees living in Utah County.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Candidate must demonstrate excellent writing and research skills
  • Proficient in the following programs: Facebook, Twitter, Word Press, Instagram, TikTok, LinkedIn, Business Suite, Microsoft Teams
  • Interest in refugee resettlement, immigration, and human trafficking issues
  • Design and photography interests or background preferred

Skills

  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently and complete assigned tasks within identified timeframes
  • Attention to detail when proofreading, copyediting, and fact-checking
