English Internships

The Utah Senate invites applications for the position of Senate Policy Intern for the 2027 General Session of the Utah Legislature. This internship provides the opportunity to work on substantive policy issues under the direction of the Senate’s Senior Policy Advisor. Candidates should be prepared to demonstrate strong writing and research skills, attention to detail and the ability to manage demanding workloads with sound judgment. This position requires intellectual rigor, adaptability and professionalism in a fast-paced environment where accuracy and discretion are essential.

As part of the 2026 English Symposium, seven students shared their experiences completing the English+ requirement.

During the 2025 Utah Legislative Session, I was the intern for Representative Christofferson (D-53). I tracked his bills, organized meetings, and handled most of his correspondence. Throughout those seven weeks, I communicated with thousands of constituents across the state. These interactions taught me so much about writing professionally and acting with intention!

I worked primarily in the Trust's archive, responding to research enquiries, assisting with collections management, and doing independent research. Other tasks included assisting with public tours in Dove Cottage and working with outreach groups, such as universities on study abroad, during their visits to the Trust.
