NASA Winter 2025 Internships (Apply by August 23)

NASA’s Office of STEM Engagement (OSTEM) paid internships allow high school and college-level students FROM ALL MAJORS to contribute to the agency’s mission to advance science, technology, aeronautics, and space exploration. 

OSTEM internships offer students an opportunity to gain practical work experience while working side-by-side with mentors who are research scientists, engineers, and individuals from many other professions. Internships may be full time or part time; and, they may be on a NASA center or facility, or even working from your home or dorm.

Join our NASA team and gain valuable on-the-job experience, build your resume, and strengthen your career readiness. We offer three sessions annually, so visit our website often for opportunities.

Spring 2025: Aug. 23, 2024
Summer 2025 – Early Decision: Oct. 25, 2024; Final, Feb. 28, 2025
Fall 2025: May 16, 2025

Some of the internships available for Winter 2025:

Communications Internship
The Communications Intern will work on content creation and engagement in support of NASA Langley’s communications team. This experience will allow students to see the innerworkings of a communications organization from multiple facets.
Duties include but are not limited to:
• Content creation, editing and review.
• Research and analysis.
• Event planning support.
• Creating, organizing and distributing informational materials, exhibits and artifacts.
• Database management in support of the speaker’s bureau and outreach events.
• Working with exhibits.

NASA Film, Music, and Science Convergence Internship
Are you a creative intern with versatile skills and a passion for multimedia storytelling? Join our team and help us develop an extraordinary project that pairs NASA’s awe-inspiring imagery with iconic space-themed music. We aim to create captivating films for orchestras and symphonies, featuring pieces like Holst’s The Planets, Debussy’s La Mer and Clair de Lune, and Vivaldi’s The Four Seasons. Our goal is to take audiences on epic journeys through music and video, showcasing the highlights of NASA’s missions and connecting through the universal language of music.

TRISH Space Health Communications Internship
projects include but are not limited to: pitching and creating “evergreen” social content; exploring graphic and video creation for social media; creating educational pieces concerning human health in space; writing compelling copy to attract innovators with potential solutions to the human health challenges of deep space; writing engaging stories highlighting TRISH-funded research projects and investigators; assisting in newsletter development. (This is a virtual internship opportunity.)

Communication, Writing, and Coordination of NASA Engages online platform
The Office of STEM Engagement is seeking an intern to support a new online platform called NASA Engages (https://my.nasa.gov/engages). This new agency platform supports matching NASA ‘Experts,’ or employees and contractors, to community requests for speaking events, classroom demonstrations, technical reviewers, science fair judging, and more. The intern will provide support for, but not limited to: assisting NASA Engages coordinators in monitoring requests, writing and posting knowledge articles and banners, creating knowledge article collections, developing supporting documents and analytical data, and responding to inquiries. Additionally, the intern will document their processes for future interns as this is a new role. The ideal person would have great people skills, attention to detail, writing skills, and ability to navigate online platforms.
