I.D.E.A. & Learning and Development Intern
JOB SUMMARY
The successful candidate will support the Salt Lake County Human Resources on the Learning & Development Team on the topics of Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, and Access (I.D.E.A.).
The internship is specifically designed for candidates with a strong interest in shaping government culture and conversations through graphic design and visual arts. You must know your way around design and/or video editing software and be willing take risks to make magic with your visual artistry. When you are finished, we intend that you will take with you several finished projects you can add to your creative portfolio showcasing, not only your creative ability, but also projects that have a significant social impact.
The Learning and Development team oversees a range of projects from organizational design to leading conversations on Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, and Access. You will be joining a team focused on self-learning that celebrates a diversity of ideas and skills. Work is primarily Monday through Friday with flexible hours to accommodate a school schedule. There may be occasional work on the weekends.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
* Excellent written and oral communication skills.
* Solid understanding of the different social media platforms.
* Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
* Ability to complete tasks under deadlines while managing multiple projects.
* Motivated, creative, detail-oriented, adaptable and dependable.
* Self-motivated team player who also excels as an individual contributor.
* Willing to familiarize themselves with the functions of the various branches of county government before starting the internship.

The Communications team in the Salt Lake County Mayor’s Office is looking for a creative communications intern willing to contribute and provide support with various tasks beginning in the 2022 Spring Term. The internship is specifically designed for candidates with a strong interest in government and political affairs with skills in communications, social media, and writing. This is a transformative opportunity for anyone seeking to gain hands-on experience working in the public sector, with elected officials and the news media. In addition to county-level work, the internship may also expose the intern to state and federal work.
The Communications intern will have the chance to help implement communication strategies and create written, photo and video content for social media, the website and newsletters. Applicants should have a strong interest in political communications, policy and digital media, be willing to work in a fast-paced environment and be interested in government processes. Work is primarily Monday through Friday with flexible hours to accommodate a school schedule. There may be occasional work on the weekends.
