Make a Wish is hiring several interns including a Marketing & Communications Intern, Development Intern and more.

Development Internship

Make-A-Wish® Utah has an opening for a Development Intern. This person will work under the direction of a member of the Development team and will gain experience in nonprofit fundraising, donor research and portfolio management, and database administration.

Hours: 8-10 hours per week, flexible schedule
Duration: One semester or longer
Location: 771 East Winchester, Murray, UT 84107

RESPONSIBILITIES

Reporting to a development staff member, the development intern will have the following responsibilities:

  • Support the development team with fundraising activities, including donor research, securing donor appointments, organizing meeting materials and preparing stewardship pieces. 
  • Assist with the planning of donor cultivation events.  
  • Provide editing support.  
  • Maintain up-to-date development documents and databases. 
  • Record contact reports in database. 
  • File documents, organize supplies, and perform any other duties as requested and assigned. 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Excellent writing and editing skills 
  • Attention to detail 
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office and social media platforms  
  • Basic knowledge of design software (e.g. Adobe Illustrator, InDesign and Photoshop, etc.), or willingness and aptitude for learning new programs

Marketing & Communications Internship

Make-A-Wish® Utah has an opening next semester for a Marketing & Communications Intern. This position will offer experience in many different facets of writing and PR while working a variety of major projects in a fun team environment.

Hours: 10-20 hours per week, flexible schedule
Duration: One semester or longer
Location: 771 East Winchester, Murray, UT 84107

RESPONSIBILITIES 

Reporting to the Marketing Manager, the Marketing & Communications intern will:

  • Maintain social media channels for the organization 
  • Research and write stories about wish experiences 
  • Edit and update website 
  • Compose press releases and PSAs as needed 
  • Assist with media campaigns for various promotions and fundraisers 
  • Manage media lists and community calendars as needed 
  • Provide photography and videography support as needed  

QUALIFICATIONS 

  • Excellent writing and editing skills 
  • Attention to detail 
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office and social media platforms  
  • Basic knowledge of editing/design software or willingness and aptitude for learning new programs

Social Media Intern/Volunteer

We are looking for a well-organized, self-motivated, reliable and committed person to help with our social media accounts. As a social media intern or volunteer, you will focus on supporting UVR’s advocacy strategy and campaigns by researching relevant content and creating new content to publish to UVR's Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, and TikTok accounts. You will work with a team responsible for image selection, caption and content writing, and some photography at UVR events.
