Anabella Schofield: Brickley Sisters Internship

"[I] highly recommend taking the leap to network with inspirational individuals who you may learn from and assist in their work!"

Majoring in English with an emphasis in Creative Writing, Anabella Schofield was thrilled to intern for The Brickley Sisters, a children’s media company created by Caroline and Katherine Brickley. The Brickley Sisters are twin children’s book authors, while Anabella and her twin sister, Sofia, are also children’s book authors, so interning for the Brickleys was a perfect fit! Caroline and Katherine’s books are titled The Blossom Shoppe and The Friendly Bookshelf, and Anabella and Sofia’s books are Ladybug’s Garden and Ladybug’s Christmas.

When searching for internships, Anabella hoped to create her own opportunity and connected with The Brickley Sisters, pitching her internship idea and possible tasks she would love to do. From writing children’s book recommendation lists for young readers, parents, and educators to creating weekly writing and kindness prompts for all ages, Anabella’s internship duties allowed her to contribute to a cause that she is passionate about! Anabella shared uplifting content across their social media pages, collaborating with The Brickley Sisters to fulfill their beautiful mission of inspiring young readers and writers to recognize that they have important stories to share. She greatly enjoyed the opportunity to give feedback on The Brickley Sisters’ manuscripts and to help her supervisors prepare for the next step in their publishing journey.

Anabella is grateful to have shaped her internship into an experience that directly relates to her own field of study and career, and she highly recommends taking the leap to network with inspirational individuals who you may learn from and assist in their work!
