English Department Internships for BYU Students

ENGL 399R is the internship course offered by the department. If you accept financial aid to supplement your internship experience, this becomes a required course. 399R is cross-listed with HCOLL 399R and is taught by Danny Damron. It consists of weekly reports and tasks that highlight skills you should be attaining as you professionalize yourself in an internship. For more information, contact Professor Petersen at

To get an add code for the course, you should fill out an IRAMS form available on the BYU Internship Office’s website (go the Student menu, then click Student Internship Application). For international internships, schedule an appointment with Professor Petersen or the advising faculty for the particular internship to walk through the process.
