The Utah Attorney General's Office invites college students or recent graduates to apply for internship opportunities. These opportunities allow interns to be paired with the divisions of our office which hold the most interest for them.

Internships are unpaid. Both full-time and part-time internships are available. We do not offer remote, virtual, or telecommuting internships at this time.

The Spring internship lasts from January through April, as it corresponds with your university's semester. Attorney General's Office internships may count toward school credits. Contact your school's internship coordinator or your academic advisor for more information.

Example of Duties

Duties depend largely on the division in which the student is placed, but may include:

  • Assisting attorneys or paralegals in case or policy research
  • Attending meetings, hearings, or court cases as you job-shadow attorneys
  • Reviewing and analyzing statutes
  • Supporting the office in special projects

Typical Qualifications

  • The ability to listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences.
  • The ability to read and understand information and ideas presented in writing.
  • The ability to communicate information and ideas in speaking so others will understand.
  • The ability to communicate information and ideas in writing so others will understand.
  • The ability to concentrate on a task over a period of time without being distracted.
  • The ability to speak clearly so others can understand you.
  • Understanding written sentences and paragraphs in work related documents.
  • Communicating effectively in writing.
  • Talking to others to convey information effectively.
  • Actively looking for ways to help people.
  • Knowledge of administrative and clerical procedures and systems such as word processing, managing files and records, stenography and transcription, designing forms, and other office procedures and terminology.
  • Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.

Voting Access Internship

Utah’s Disability Law Center is seeking a qualified, self-starter to initiate a grassroots project aimed at improving the accessibility of Utah’s primary election and caucus systems. The chosen applicant will recruit, energize, and educate voters to prepare them to participate in their local caucus meetings or vote in-person during the presidential primary election. Volunteers will evaluate the accessibility of the site and the voting process, then report their observations. Qualitative and quantitative data will be compiled then a report produced.

Utah Governor's Office Spring 2024 Fellowship Program

Apply by Oct. 31. The Utah Governor's Office is now accepting applications for the Spring 2024 Fellowship Program. Our program offers a unique opportunity for students to gain experience in public service and leadership. Our fellows work directly with senior advisors and cabinet members on a wide variety of initiatives. Importantly, they are given direct exposure to our legislative efforts in the spring, from initial policy drafting in January to bill review in April.
