UK Parliament Internship - APPG for International Freedom of Religion or Belief

Intern with the APPG FoRB for Summer Term and experience what it is like to live in London, work in British Parliament, and support human rights-related work. You will work closely with the Director and the Parliamentary Officer of the APPG and provide support to Members of Parliament. Excellent writing skills are a must for this internship, as is a strong interest in International FoRB and human rights.

The All-Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) for International Freedom of Religion or Belief is a cross-party group of parliamentarians who believe that international freedom of religion or belief is a crucial human right. They seek to raise its profile in Government, in Parliament, in the media, and among the general public. This APPG is one of the largest in Parliament and is comprised of Members of Parliament (MPs) and members of the House of Lords. An intern will be working closely with Director and the Parliamentary Officer of the APPG.

Details

  • Summer Term (possibly Fall Semester as well)
  • Students should have excellent writing skills, an existing interest in freedom of religion or belief OR human rights, and an ability to work across political lines.
  • London-based internship, with accommodation arranged by the Kennedy Center.
  • 3 days/week
  • 25 hours per week
  • Hours typically 10am-6pm, with evening meetings and events as required
  • Hybrid work schedule, aiming for 70% in professional settings (including Parliament)

Responsibilities

  • Researching and writing about International FoRB and Human Rights.
  • Developing research proposals, event/article summaries, briefing packs, speeches.
  • Emailing and communicating with Members of Parliament (MPs) and other government officers.
  • Attending parliamentary events and events hosted by NGOs and civil society

Housing Program and Policy Research Internship

Salt Lake City’s Department of Community and Neighborhoods (CAN) is implementing two housing plans: Housing SLC, our five-year moderate-income housing plan; and Thriving in Place, our anti-displacement plan. CAN is seeking an intern that is interested in local government’s role in housing to further the commitments made in those two housing plans. This position will help research, develop, and implement strategies and actions to further the City’s commitments made in the two housing plans.
