Remote Research Internship with Encircle

The Research Intern supports research and reporting on the Programs Team, ensuring that Programs, Friendship Circles, and Drop-In Hours at all Encircle Homes are the best they can be. Under the supervision of the Research Project Manager, the Research Intern will develop reports, refine surveying practices, and make data-driven recommendations to refine Encircle's services.

Research Intern Job Description:

  • Learn and develop research skills in the non-profit sector.
  • Lead and manage multiple ongoing research projects.
  • Learn how to design, execute, and evaluate research projects.
  • Assist in developing online surveys.
  • Prepare research summaries and reports from research articles and web searches.
  • Perform simple qualitative and quantitative analysis.
  • Develop timely, effective, and persuasive research materials that advance our core mission and serve the needs of our team.
  • Think creatively about ways to translate, sometimes dense, policy and research studies into digestible and useful products for internal and public distribution.
  • Contribute to grant-related efforts. Possible tasks include:
    • Conducting background research and literature reviews to support grant concepts and IRB applications,
    • Providing updates on success of project tasks, using project data as evidence, and
    • Writing description about completed projects or tasks within projects.
  • Develop and manage project scope, timeline, milestones, and deliverables based on project proposal.
  • Conduct comprehensive needs assessment to: understand the current program design, identify resource gaps, and inform project priorities.
  • Document all plans, processes, procedures, and lessons learned during the project for standardization and knowledge transfer.

Pay: Unpaid.

Time Commitment: 10-15 Hours Per Week.

Duration: 4-6 months, as arranged with supervisor.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Working towards a Bachelor’s degree in a Social or Behavioral Science, Liberal Arts, Organizational Science, Education Research, or a field related to the area of research, or equivalency (preferred, working on Master’s degree in the same fields).
  • Experience in research and analytical techniques; demonstrated statistical and quantitative analysis experience; and demonstrated human relation and effective communication skills required.
  • Demonstrated ability in project management, taking projects from conception to delivery, including quality assurance checks.
  • Ability to collaborate with staff and partners while managing multiple project demands and organizational priorities.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills and ability to foster collaborative and productive relationships among staff, external organizations, and funders.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills and the ability to use those skills with a variety of audiences.

  • You’re able to work independently and manage multiple projects while also contributing to a team.
