FamilySearch International, the largest genealogy organization in the world, is looking for a full-time paid intern. This individual will be involved in planning, supporting and carrying out the main-stage experience at RootsTech, in both the virtual and in-person aspects of the conference. RootsTech is an annual genealogy conference that hosts millions of people virtually in over 11 languages. The event is enhanced by in-person events in varying cities, but typically in Salt Lake City, Utah.

This internship will last for the period of one year, and responsibilities will center around delivering our virtual program, including content management, using our CMS, supporting content in 11 languages while working alongside the full RootsTech team for the creative planning and delivery of the event.

Event team members must have high energy and strong personal commitment to meeting deadlines, serving the audience first, and delivering with the highest levels of personal integrity.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Active participant on the creative team, helping team members to refine and deliver inspired original content.  Assignments may include script writing, editing feedback, and other production elements.
  • Write meta-data, descriptions, SEO, and create thumbnails for mainstage content that simplifies the user experience. 
  • Effectively manage and organize virtual content through the workflow until it’s ready to be published 
  • Kindly collaborate with teams across the department and help execute planned assets 
  • Support keynote and other main-stage experiences at the in-person event.
  • Help develop, publish and manage an event schedule, that runs on-time.
  • Try, learn, pivot -- gather data, measure and analyze; identify key learnings, then try again using inspiration
  • CMS (content management system), HTML, or CSS skills are a bonus
  • Recording and documenting the processes and best practices you acquire to help future interns be successful

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Currently enrolled in academic courses or graduated with a bachelor’s or post-graduate degree within the last year
  • Must have a desire to be part of a high-functioning team and ready to work hard and achieve high standards
  • Strong sense of personal drive and motivation to produce high-quality work
  • Ready to join a team that feels more like family than work; we have each other’s backs, we jump in and help, we want to help each other succeed
  • Ability to think creatively and approach content creation with fresh perspectives and ingenuity
  • Events require a lot of energy; deadlines can’t be moved; we work hard, but enjoy the high level of rewards in the end (whether or not goals are met)
  • A composed demeanor is a bonus when faced with intense pressures leading up to and during a live event
  • Must be self-motivated with a high level of integrity; in a mostly work-from-home environment, this is required
  • Excellent project management and time management skills will be a big benefit in this role
  • Ability to communicate, influence and lead effectively at all levels of the organization
  • Must be a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and hold a current temple recommend.
  • Detail-oriented and able to manage own work and priorities based on current assignments
