The Springville Museum of Art has a proud tradition of facilitating internships, working with interns to help them gain hands-on industry experience in a community art museum. Within specific departments, interns can acquire valuable work experience, developing and refining marketable skills while exploring possible career paths and networking with museum professionals.

For Summer 2025, Springville Museum of Art offers internships in the following areas:

Collections Management (up to 3 positions):

· Help maintain and update collection database
· Organize key records related to the Museum's Permanent Collection and donor history
· Assist with art handling and exhibition installation
· Maintain and update the Museum's Research Library on Utah artists

Education (1 position):

· Plan, implement, and assist with events and public programs
· Develop and write curriculum and accessibility materials
· Help implement the Museum’s education programs, including tours, outreach, and teacher trainings

Requirements

Internship applicants must be able to commit to at least one semester (12 weeks) of service and serve a minimum of 6-8 hours per week in their area of specialty. Prior to the start of internships, all accepted interns will be required to attend a general orientation meeting and obtain a background check.

What are we looking for?

· Experience or particular interest in museum work, art history, public art, art marketing, art conservation and preservation, communications, non-profit/public/organizational management
· Applicants with a clear idea of how this internship can have a strong impact on personal, academic, and/or professional growth.
· Applicants with initiative, reliability, and creativity

Apply by November 15. The National Museum of the American Indian (NMAI) Internship Program provides educational opportunities for students interested in the museum profession and related fields. Interns complete projects using the resources of the NMAI and other Smithsonian offices.
