CLOSED Executive Conservation and Archiving Internship, Office of the Utah Attorney General

The Office of the Utah Attorney General invites college students or recent high school graduates to apply for an Executive Conservation and Archiving Internship. This internship provides an opportunity to work with documents of historical, academic, and legal importance and would make a great addition to any college application or resume.

Internships are unpaid and we do not offer remote, virtual, or telecommuting internships at this time. Please speak with the hiring manager when contacted for an interview about the internship duration. Internships with the Office may count toward school credits. Contact your school's internship coordinator or your academic advisor for more information regarding credit eligibility.

This is a part-time internship with flexible hours. We’re happy to accommodate your schedule. Our standard business hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. We have multiple openings for this internship and encourage all interested candidates to apply.

Applicants must be 18 years of age or older to be eligible for this position.

Responsibilities

This internship will be with the Executive Division of the Attorney General’s Office. These duties include but are not limited to:

  • Handle and file fragile historical documents with care in accordance with archival best practices.
  • Sort, organize, and categorize documents based on content, date, or archival classification systems.
  • Digitize materials using scanning equipment while focusing on safe handling and image quality.
  • Review scanned images for clarity and accuracy, flagging any inaccuracies or rescan needs.
  • Create and update detailed tracking records of scanned items. 
  • Collaborate with administrative staff to determine priorities and handle materials correctly.
  • Demonstrate attention to detail and discretion when working with sensitive or confidential documents.
  • Learn and incorporate basic state archival concepts under supervision.
  • Aid with special projects as assigned.

  • Knowledge of administrative and clerical procedures and systems such as word processing, managing files and records, stenography and transcription, designing forms, and other office procedures and terminology.
  • Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.
