CLOSED Digital Marketing Internship

Cedar Fort logo

We're looking for a motivated and organized Digital Marketing Intern to join the Cedar Fort Publishing & Media marketing team. This is a hands-on role where you'll work across outreach, retail partnerships, social media, and email/SMS marketing — from pitching Cedar Fort products to media and retailers to building automated customer journeys. If you're eager to build real-world skills in publishing marketing and ecommerce communication, this is the opportunity for you.

Responsibilities

Market Outreach & Publicity

  • Identify and build outreach lists of retailers, boutiques, museum shops, homeschool groups, LDS stores, gift shops, family game stores, Deseret-style outlets, tourism stores, and online communities
  • Draft outreach emails and organize email segments for each audience group
  • Build lists of podcasts, blogs, radio, TV, newsletters, religious media, and conferences;
  • Research review opportunities including review blogs, Goodreads groups, bookstagrammers, Christian/LDS reviewers, clean romance reviewers, and homeschool reviewers; organize by genre, submission guidelines, and cost

Events Strategy

  • Help build an events booth kit and create an easy plan for event setup and takedown

Email & SMS Marketing

  • Research best practices for email marketing, SMS marketing, lifecycle marketing, and ecommerce automation
  • Review Cedar Fort's existing email flows and identify opportunities for improvement
  • Write, organize, and build new email sequences, including welcome flows, abandoned cart flows, browse abandonment flows, post-purchase flows, winback flows, and topic-based nurture sequences
  • Create customer journeys and campaigns based on book topics, categories, series, reader interests, and seasonal needs (e.g. scripture study, children's books, cookbooks, fiction, new releases)
  • Incorporate SMS into Cedar Fort's broader marketing strategy in a thoughtful, customer-friendly way
  • Analyze subject lines, open rates, click rates, conversion rates, unsubscribe rates, and other performance metrics, and make recommendations based on the data
  • Assist with email copywriting, preview text, calls to action, and audience segmentation
  • Document completed flows so future team members can understand and continue them

What You'll Learn

By the end of this internship, you'll have hands-on experience with:

  • Publicity pitching and media/retailer outreach
  • Event marketing and setup
  • Email marketing strategy and SMS marketing strategy
  • Ecommerce customer journeys and marketing automation
  • Audience segmentation and campaign planning
  • Copywriting for digital marketing and publicity
  • Performance analysis and reporting
  • Turning research and customer behavior into practical marketing decisions

Qualifications

  • Currently pursuing a degree in Marketing, Communications, Business, English, Advertising, Public Relations, or a related field
  • Organized, outgoing, and comfortable reaching out to people via email
  • A clear and thoughtful writer
  • Comfortable researching best practices and turning research into action
  • Adaptable to using computer programs and AI tools
  • Able to manage multiple projects over a 12-week period
  • Familiar with or respectful of Cedar Fort's faith-centered audience and mission
  • Prior experience with email marketing platforms, Shopify, Klaviyo, Mailchimp, SMS tools, Canva, or Google Analytics is helpful but not required
