The Communications Intern is a key member of Cosm’s marketing team, helping to define and share our innovative brand and unique story with the world. This role will work closely with the Marketing & Communications Manager and other departments across the company to help usher in a new era of immersive entertainment through public relations, communications, and social media efforts. The successful candidate will be a go-getter who thrives working independently and with a team, with equal parts creativity and critical thinking and exceptional communication skills to effectively communicate and promote the company vision internally and externally.

We provide a full stack experience solution including the physical design, engineering, and manufacturing; as well as the software, display engine, and content needs to deliver immersive experiences at scale. Our technology enables people to experience entertainment in a new way, across three primary markets: Sports and Entertainment, Science and Education, and Parks and Attractions.

Location: Salt Lake City, UT

Program Dates: Interns will work up to 240 hours between September 11th- December 8th, 2023

Details: Pay $16.90 hourly part-time

Responsibilities:

  • Research and compile press coverage on key industries, industry trends, competitors, partners, and the company  
  • Identify and share executive speaking engagements, thought leadership, and editorial opportunities 
  • Manage company awards, recognitions, and engagements by sourcing information, drafting application answers, and compiling assets for submission 
  • Create PR materials including journalist briefing sheets, press releases, bylines, and press kits 
  • Collaborate with other internal and external teams (Product, HR, Sales, PR agency, social media agency, etc.) and fellow interns to support communications initiatives and find compelling stories to tell 
  • Assist in gathering information and assets for the company’s social media platforms while also generating content ideas and drafting social post copy 
  • Support day-to-day communications activities, including tracking and analyzing media coverage and social media mentions, monitoring inbound requests, updating documents and databases, drafting internal communications materials, and other tasks as assigned 

Qualifications:

  • Junior, Senior standing by the start of the program
  • Legally authorized to work in the U.S.
  • Self-starter with a hands-on, proactive way of thinking and working 
  • Ability to learn quickly and adapt in a fast-paced environment 
  • Creative thinker with strong research and verbal/written communication skills 
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, etc.) and Google Workplace (Docs, Sheets, Slides, etc.)

Our program offers a unique opportunity for students to gain experience in public service and leadership. Our fellows work directly with senior advisors and cabinet members on a wide variety of initiatives. Importantly, they are given direct exposure to our legislative efforts in the spring, from initial policy drafting in January to bill review in April.
