The Office of Utah Gov. Spencer J. Cox offers a number of fellowships intended to help young professionals gain a wide variety of professional experiences and a unique perspective into state government, public service, and the duties of the governor and lieutenant governor.
We seek outstanding applicants with excellent writing, teamwork, and organizational skills. Fellowships may be completed for academic credit.
Fellowships are paid at $14 per hour. An hourly commitment of 20 hours per week is required, though fellows may work up to 29 hours per week with approval. Schedules are flexible, but fellows must be present on the days and times mutually agreed upon during the application process.
Fellowships are available to apply for twice a year and last for six months. Applicants can choose between a legislative fellowship between the months of January to June, or an interim fellowship between August to December.
The fellowship application timeline functions as follows:
- Legislative Fellowship
- Application period: Oct. 1 to Oct. 31
- Interview period: First week in November
- Notification of decision: Third Friday of November
- In-Person training: Tentatively, second week of January
- Fellowship begins: Second week of January
- Interim Fellowship
- Application period: Mar. 1 to Mar. 31 (APPLICATION WINDOW EXTENDED UNTIL APRIL 30)
- Interview period: First week in April
- Notification of decision: Third Friday of April
- In-Person training: Tentatively, second week of August
- Fellowship begins: Second week of August
