If you are an up-and-coming digital news innovator, Deseret News wants you to join our internship program.
Deseret News internships are paid ($10/hour) and last approximately four months (one semester) in duration. Full-time (40 hours per week) and part-time (16-24 hours per week) internships are available with Deseret News with some flexibility to work with class schedules. Internships for summer semester typically start in April/May and end in August (in conjunction with school semesters). Interns will work with their supervising editors to determine exact starting and ending dates, and weekly work schedules. If time off during the semester is needed, that must be coordinated well in advance with the supervising editor.
This internship will challenge you to:
Write news content that informs and engrosses users and keeps them coming back
Develop skills in digital news gathering, attribution and writing
Find and attract users who are engaged by our content
Contribute to a team that is gaining national attention for digital innovation
The Deseret News is hiring a newsletter intern to work in tandem with the Newsletter Editor to help coordinate and send our portfolio of 15+ newsletters. As the closest digital product to a daily newspaper, newsletters are an editorial project that helps readers find the important news they need to know. This role combines the news judgement of journalism with the pragmatism of audience and marketing work. The person in this role will report to the Newsletter Editor and work closely with that individual on a day-to-day basis.
The Deseret News Social Media Marketing Intern works with the digital marketing team to develop strategies to grow our communities across multiple platforms (including web, social networks and email) and executing those strategies, as well as developing and managing relationships with our best readers.
