The Department of Corrections Executive office is offering a great opportunity for a Legislative/Communication Internship. This is a part-time, time limited position with the Utah Department of Corrections. This is a flexible three-month position working directly with the Executive Office to help with various projects including the legislative session and communications related projects. This will be a 20 to 40 hour a week position.

Salary: $15.00 - $20.00 Hourly

Example of Duties:

  • Aids the executive office by tracking bills and drafting messaging related to the legislative session and Corrections.
  • Aids the communications office in research and implementation in various communications efforts.
  • Assists with the Department's public website, social media.
  • Assists the communications office with constituent services.
  • Performs related duties as assigned.

The ideal candidate for this position is someone who processes the following qualifications:

  • Completed or is actively pursuing a bachelors or masters in communications, political science, economics, marketing, business or a related degree.
  • Uses proper grammar, spelling and punctuation.
  • Working knowledge of design principles and experience using Adobe Suite.
  • Communicates information and ideas clearly, and concisely.
  • Works with people in a manner which shows sensitivity, tact, and professionalism.
  • Has a general understanding of the legislative process.

Community Outreach Internship

The Community Outreach Internship provides an excellent opportunity for students to learn about the internal organization and operations of the Mayor’s Office. This job is designed to provide students with paid professional experience to further their education and training and is academically oriented for the student’s benefit. To qualify students must be enrolled in an accredited school program related to the type of work they are expected to perform. Positions will terminate upon completion of the internship period. Incumbents may deal with confidential information, which is expected to be maintained as confidential and shared only on a need-to-know basis with city employees and elsewhere when authorized by the intern’s designated city supervisor.
