INTERNSHIPS AT THE MUSEUM OF ART

The Museum of Art Internship program provides selected BYU students with opportunities to work on mentored projects in one of the following museum areas:

  • Curatorial Department: Working with curators in the research and development of exhibitions.
  • Education Department: Working with museum educators on the research, interpretation, and execution of exhibition theses; also the production of educational materials and programs.
  • Registration Department: Working with museum registration staff in the management of the museum’s collections;  also the documentation, care, and transportation of all artworks to and from the museum.
  • Marketing & PR Department: Working with museum marketing and public relations team to strategize, create, and produce promotional materials for the museum.

Please download and complete the internship application form. Please include the following when you submit your application:

  • Current résumé
  • Letter of Intent (provide a brief account of how you hope to benefit from this internship, and what you feel you could contribute to the MOA through this mentoring process)
  • Recent research paper
  • Recent photograph

For Fall semester: March 17th of each year
For Winter semester: November 5th of each year

HUMANITIES FELLOWSHIP

Over the past several years, the BYU College of Humanities has generously funded paid curatorial fellowships at the Museum of Art. These fellowships allow outstanding Humanities students to become immersed in the cross-disciplinary scholarship of curatorial practice. Students work closely with curators in developing exhibitions and performing in-depth research and writing.

Fellowship candidates may come from any of the Humanities programs, including:

  • American Studies
  • Art History and Curatorial Studies
  • Classical Studies
  • Comparative Literature
  • English
  • Interdisciplinary Humanities
  • Languages
  • Philosophy

Fellowships are 15 hours/week for the duration of a semester, approximately 15 weeks. Hourly wages allow compensation at between $8-$9/hr.

Interested candidates should fill out a Humanities Fellowship application form.

Deadlines for Internship Application submissions:

  • Spring / Summer and Fall semesters: March 17th
  • Winter semester: November 5th

As a writer, you would edit content for grammar and tone, write and deliver product documentation, take meeting notes, collect action items, and otherwise assist in product development. Technical Writers are advocates for the needs of the customer, and help a team prioritize end-user communication. The User Experience Team of the Office of Information Technology is seeking to hire a skilled and responsible student. We are offering a great opportunity to do “real” work that will benefit BYU and your portfolio. We need team members who we can trust to do solid research and generate user-centered design. All majors are welcome, but we are looking for applicants with an interest in UX and design skills on which we can train to quality UX work.
