Mormon Women for Ethical Government (MWEG) is a nonpartisan, grassroots nonprofit organization dedicated to inspiring women of faith to be active participants in the democratic process. We are guided by principles of peacemaking, truth-seeking, and a commitment to ethical leadership. We advocate for policies that protect democratic institutions, care for the earth, and support marginalized and vulnerable communities.
This internship will be with the Utah advocacy committee at MWEG. The intern will work closely with the Utah state director, assistant director, and advocacy committee during the Utah legislative session to track bills related to MWEG’s areas of advocacy, support MWEG advocacy processes, and advocate for MWEG priorities.
Key Responsibilities
- Committee engagement: Attend weekly meetings with the Utah advocacy committee and actively participate in discussions about advocacy strategy.
- Legislative analysis and reporting: Analyze legislation related to MWEG’s areas of advocacy, draft policy summaries to share with the UT state director and advocacy committee, and draft a daily update on the status of priority bills.
- Public testimony: Give public testimony before a legislative committee, as requested by state leadership.
- Event support: Provide comprehensive support for 2-3 MWEG advocacy events, including a day at the capitol.
Compensation & Benefits
- Pay: $16/hour
- Flexibility and travel: Flexible, remote schedule (15-20 hours/week) with required virtual team meetings; minimal travel to the Utah Capitol required.

Peacemaking and Conflict Resolution Internship
The peacemaking and conflict resolution intern helps drive the development and delivery of the Peacemaking Lab, specifically focusing on the Peacemaking in the Pews and Conflict Transformation 101, and Nonviolence courses. She ensures that participants have a transformative experience by organizing complex peacebuilding theories into accessible lessons and facilitating a welcoming, courageous learning environment.
What You’ll Do
- Curriculum Development: Contribute to the course development of The Peacemaking Lab, creating content that helps participants navigate conflict within their faith communities.
- Course Facilitation: Lead cohorts through courses in the Peacemaking Lab, ensuring a prepared and professional delivery of all materials.
- Evaluation & Feedback: Gather participant experiences and data to evaluate course effectiveness and suggest improvements for future sessions.
- Resource Curation: Identify and organize external case studies and interfaith perspectives to enrich MWEG’s peacemaking library.
- Content Creation: Develop social media content on peacemaking, conflict transformation, and other related topics that effectively articulate concepts and align with MWEG’s vision and principles of peacemaking.
- Strategic Collaboration: Attend monthly empower team meetings to ensure all peacemaking initiatives align with MWEG’s broader educational goals.
Compensation and Hours: $16 hourly, 10–15 Hours/Week (College credit eligible)
