Make-A-Wish® Utah has an opening next semester for a Communications Intern, and a Development Intern. Communications intern will offer experience in many different facets of writing and PR while working a variety of major projects in a fun team environment. The Development Intern will gain experience in many different facets of nonprofit development, fundraising, donor research and portfolio management.

Communications Intern

  • Hours: 10-20 hours per week, flexible schedule
  • Duration: One semester or longer
  • Location: 771 East Winchester, Murray, UT 84107

RESPONSIBILITIES

Reporting to the Marketing Manager, the Marketing & Communications intern will have the following responsibilities:

  • Maintaining social media channels for the organization
  • Edit and update website
  • Compose press releases and PSAs
  • Research and write stories about wishes
  • Assist with media campaigns for various promotions & fundraisers
  • Manage media lists and community calendars
  • Provide photography and videography support as needed

Development Intern

  • Hours: 10-15 hours per week, flexible schedule
  • Duration: An entire semester or longer
  • Location: 771 East Winchester, Murray, UT 84107

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Support the Corporate and Community Manager with development activities and programs, including donor research, solicitation and stewardship
  • Assist with the planning of corporate engagement events by calling and coordinating with Wish Families.
  • Help manage the Kids For Wish Kids Program and work with schools that partner with Make-A-Wish Utah
  • Submit proposals and grant requests in a timely and professional manner
  • Record contact reports in database
  • Maintain up-to-date development documents, databases and lists
  • Research and contact specific corporations to secure contacts and contact information
  • File documents, organize supplies and perform any other duties as requested and assigned
