Social Media/Marketing Assistant, Job ID 134169

Each of BYUtv's Marketing Managers are assigned a number of shows/properties within the network's programming. They are responsible for coordinating and executing the complete marketing strategy for the assigned shows.

The purpose of this assistant role is to serve alongside one of BYUtv's Marketing Managers to assist and collaborate on the marketing efforts for the assigned shows.

This position is mainly focused on social media management, but may include other aspects of marketing such as digital ads, analytics, and content strategy.

This job is 20 hours per week.

Execution duties include, but are not limited, to:

  • Participating in planning and strategy for marketing campaigns across all disciplines
  • Providing creative input for content selection and creation
  • Managing the social media posting calendar for multiple shows.
  • Keeping up-to-date on marketing trends and best practices
  • Performing regular analysis of marketing efforts and reports.
  • Periodically helping with off-site marketing shoots and events.
  • Being able to assist the marketing manager with any other tasks that need completion.

Coordination duties include, but are not limited, to:

  • Working with contracted agencies to provide assistance and asset management (videos, graphics, etc.)
  • Keeping track of creative services/video promotions work order requests and facilitate file transfers
  • Managing orders for prizes from social media contests and ensure their delivery to recipient

Skills/Qualifications:

  • Excellent Writer: Be an exceptional writer with few spelling errors and have the ability to write in different voices to represent each brand effectively.
  • Strategic Thinker: Be able think critically about the goals and content for each show and how to communicate effectively with existing or potential fans through marketing.
  • Organized and Proactive: Be extremely organized, deadline-conscious, and have the ability to juggle tasks well and wear multiple hats.
  • Expert Communicator: Know how to portray the correct messages to the correct audience through the correct marketing channels.
  • Social Media Extraordinaire: Be able to understand and comfortably use various social media platforms and cross-promote content successfully.
  • Graphic Design/Video Editing experience is a plus: Have working knowledge of the Adobe Creative Suite to assist in editing videos, and generating appropriate and appealing content for social media as well as working with our Graphic design team.
  • Communications, Marketing, Advertising, English, or related major a plus.

Writing and Content Development, Job ID 134163

BYU Broadcasting's Content Development and Writing Team is a highly selective student-driven content development program led by a seasoned team of industry professionals. Selected applicants will work as part of a student writing team under the direct supervision and guidance of a professional television writer and content executives from BYUtv and BYUradio.

The goal of the program is two-fold: 1. amplify BYU Broadcasting's internal efforts to develop entertaining scripted content (for both television and podcast) that explores spiritually meaningful themes and contains positive, authentic and powerful depictions of persons of faith; and 2. provide professional level training and mentoring to promising writers focused on a professional career in the entertainment industry.

The writing team will work with internal and external partners and stakeholders to: 1. cultivate and workshop concepts for television and/or podcast series; 2. write treatments, formats, bibles, exploratory scenes and scripts; and 3. undertake all other development assignments given by BYU Broadcasting's content team.
