The University has approved on-site internships for fall semester as long as the internship provider and the intern sign additional paperwork before the internship begins. Non-Profit Grant Writing Internship

Note: This is a work-from-home virtual position for Fall 2020.
THE OPPORTUNITY
Are you interested in pursuing a career where grant writing will be considered an asset? If you are planning on working in the non-profit sector, grant-writing is an invaluable skill for folks working in a wide variety of specialties. We are looking for a student to help us prepare first drafts of our grant materials, proofread finalized grant materials, and generate financial reports. We will provide the training necessary to complete these tasks effectively, and all work will be reviewed by an experienced grant writer. We will provide detailed feedback and will provide any needed letters of recommendation going forward.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Draft grant materials with training and input from an experienced staff member
  • Proofread final grant materials after they have been edited and reviewed by an experienced staff member
  • Generate the financial reports needed for grants (training provided, no experience needed)
  • Write content as needed for our blog and newsletter
  • Provide other miscellaneous office support as needed

QUALIFICATIONS

  • College-level student pursuing a degree in a related field
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

OTHER REQUIREMENTS

  • Access to video conferencing; ability to work from home
  • Able to commit to 6-12 hours per week for a three-month period
  • Available to attend virtual meetings as needed

Digital Humanities Internship

THE OPPORTUNITY

Are you a student looking for an internship in the social sciences or humanities? Come work for the Disabled Rights Action Committee and help us transition our archives into the 21st century. We are looking for a well-organized and detail-oriented intern to help us transition our materials to a digital format and provide support in other areas as needed. This position is not paid, but offers flexible scheduling to accommodate a student schedule and other life commitments. We want this opportunity to be mutually beneficial, and we are open to customizing this position to allow an intern to develop experience in the areas they most need to be successful in their career of choice. 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Oversee and carry out a project digitizing company records and documents in collaboration with other volunteers
  • Look for opportunities to move from print to digital formats and assist in this transition
  • Ensure consistent file structure and naming conventions
  • Audit materials for accessibility and ensure that accessibility best-practices are maintained throughout the organization
  • Draft grant materials and search for grant opportunities

QUALIFICATIONS

  • College-level student pursuing a degree in the humanities or social sciences
  • Very strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

OTHER REQUIREMENTS

  • Access to reliable transportation¬∑
  • Able to commit to 12 hours per week for a three-month period
  • Available to attend weekly staff meetings
