Y Magazine Internship (apply by Nov. 28)

Y Magazine is on the hunt for sharp students who would thrive in an immersive magazine editorial internship experience. Sent out to some 230,000 alumni households, Y Magazine is BYU’s flagship print publication. Along with work in journalism and editing, Y Magazine interns also gain experience with social media, web publishing, basic magazine business, and many other facets of putting out a highly polished, award-winning publication each quarter.

Internship openings are available immediately. Generally, we prefer our interns to stay at least two semesters (or a semester and two terms).

Responsibilities:

  • Write news articles and profiles
  • Conduct interviews and cover campus events
  • Edit and proofread text
  • Contribute story ideas
  • Fact-check and do other research
  • Coordinate photography and gather art
  • Create magazine web communications

Requirements:

  • Solid writing skills
  • Basic knowledge of news writing/reporting
  • Substantive editing skills—deeper than proofreading/copyediting
  • Familiarity with Chicago and/or AP style
  • BYU student status for the duration of the internship

Job Info:

  • $14.00 per hour
  • 20 hours per week, flexible schedule

Editorial Assistant Internship

Let's face it, you need a job, and we need an editor to help reorganize, edit, and redesign our website (wordcruncher.com). This internship will span the length of the project, with potential to continue part-time afterwards, if desired. If possible, we will finish by the beginning of July.
