Work part-time while attending school and gain experience working with technical teams to generate high quality and professional work products. Create content that communicates specifications, engineering designs, product data sheets, interface descriptions, intellectual property disclosures, marketing messages, and vision.

Location: Salt Lake City, UT
Pay: $18 - $25 an hour - Part-time

What You’ll Get to Do:

  • Collaborate with cross-disciplinary teams to capture and document ideas in a startup environment
  • Document all aspects of the product design life cycle including system architecture, design, development, and verification/test
  • Distill complex technical concepts into clear and concise writing to support proposals for new opportunities
  • Help us grow by creating a style guide, reusable templates, and process for generating valuable documents

Required Qualifications & Experience

  • US Citizenship
  • Ability to obtain a security clearance
  • Enrolled in a Bachelor's or Master's program in a technical discipline, technical writing, communications, or a related discipline
  • Establish a good working rapport with technical teams to elicit concepts and data, asking thoughtful questions and contributing to productive discussions
  • Talent with language and organization, ability to write very clearly in a manner that is professional and grammatically correct
  • Persuasive writing skills
  • Ability to generate graphics to communicate concepts such as use cases, system composition, block diagrams, sequence diagrams, and others using PowerPoint, Visio, and other tools
  • Can capture and communicate complex technical concepts for both technical and general audiences
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Must be highly creative and have experience interfacing directly with external customers
  • Excellent attention to detail and time management skills

Preferred Qualifications & Experience

  • Active US Security Clearance
  • Experience producing material for and interfacing with internal and external customers
  • Familiarity with marketing and experience using frameworks for persuasive writing
  • Interest and familiarity with computer hardware or software
  • Enthusiasm and passion for technology
  • Experience with the defense and aerospace economic sector

Location

  • The preferred work location is at Idaho Scientific headquarters in Boise, Idaho or in Salt Lake City, Utah
