Student Job: Content Specialist, BYU College of Life Sciences

The College of Life Sciences student content specialist has the opportunity to interview, write, edit, and promote stories on an array of compelling topics from cancer treatment to fighting malnutrition in developing countries. With eight academic units, the College of Life Sciences provides a large pool of interesting, diverse content. If you love to uncover intriguing facts or share inspiring stories about someone’s journey, we would love to work with you.

Title: Content Specialist
Hours: 10-20 per week
Beginning start date: ASAP
Time: Flexible
Pay: DOE

Primary Responsibilities:
· Interview interesting students, faculty, and alumni
· Write and edit engaging magazine features
· Write news article for web, internal communications, local media, and donors
· Help write website content that motivates viewers to discover more
· Keep the college community informed and connected by helping produce a weekly newsletter
· Collaborate with our social media, video, graphic design, and web team members.

Qualifications:
· Strong editing skills—proficient in AP and Chicago style
· Strong writing skills—news writing experience preferred
· Ability to write both straight news and feature style articles
· Strong verbal communication skills—experience interviewing sources is preferred
· Works well on concurrent projects, meeting all deadlines
· Ability to work independently as well as with the team
· Innovative while taking direction and feedback with grace
· Self-motivated, creative, and strong attention to details
· Journalism, public relations, English, and Editing & publishing majors preferred
