Student Job as a Social Media Specialist/Writer with BYU Public Health

Social Media Specialist/Writer position available. Flexible hours. This position will be for 10-20 hours per week starting Winter 2022 semester. Will publicize research and events happening within the Public Health Department. Will write about research from professors and students, publish it on the department website, and publicize it on the department’s social media pages. Will maintain the department’s website and manage the department’s social media pages.

We are looking for a friendly, creative person who is a self-starter with a strong work ethic. Employees should be dressed professionally and follow the honor code in all aspects (no leggings, shorts, or torn jeans). Very positive work environment.

Hourly Wage: 12.00

Qualifications:

  • A willingness to cheerfully do what is asked as well as taking the initiative to complete understood tasks efficiently without being asked.
  • Demonstrate a high level of professionalism, strong interpersonal and communication skills, and be sensitive to issues of confidentiality.
  • Proactive in seeking out new stories for publication.
  • Proficiency in Outlook, Word, and Excel.
  • Well-organized and attention to detail. Ability to learn quickly, perform under pressure and prioritize tasks.
  • Strong writing, editing and proofreading skills, including use of proper grammar and punctuation.
  • Experience in social media content creation and management, design, writing, web development, and video/sound editing preferred.
  • Experience with Adobe products is a plus.
  • Punctual to scheduled shift.  It is anticipated that the student will work 10-20 hours per week. (potentially up to 40 hr/week during Spring/Summer Terms).
