If you are an up-and-coming digital news innovator, Deseret News wants you to join our internship program.
Deseret News internships are paid ($14/hour) and last approximately 4-6 months (one semester) in duration. Full-time (40 hours per week) and part-time (16-24 hours per week) internships are available with Deseret News with some flexibility to work with class schedules. This internship will challenge you to:
Write news content that informs and engrosses users and keeps them coming back
Develop skills in digital news gathering, attribution and writing
Find and attract users who are engaged by our content
Contribute to a team that is gaining national attention for digital innovation
We're looking for an intern who's both passionate and curious about trending news, and is willing to write about everything from Zac Efron to the latest health trends to Utah true crime (and everything in between). As an intern, you'll write short briefs, articles, roundups, evergreen/seasonal articles and link-off pieces about trending and cultural news. Monitoring social media, major news outlets, digital news websites and aggregation platforms is a requirement of the position. The goal is for your articles to get as many views as possible by identifying the right audience and story topic.
The Deseret News is continuously looking for talented seasonal student intern writers and copy editors for the Church News (an official publication of the The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints), which provides news and information for members of the Church.
