Washington Seminary Internships (Winter 24)

There are a few internship opportunities still available for the Washington Seminar, Winter 2024. We offer housing in a nice neighborhood in DC, credit packages, and internship funding grants to help offset costs. If you’d like more information or to apply, go to fhssinternships.byu.edu.

  1. The Heritage Foundation is a well established and popular internship in Washington, DC that works well with the Washington Seminar program. If you are interested, please look through the information at the link and email Lisa Peck (lisa_peck@byu.edu) ASAP. This internship is accepting BYU applicants beyond the deadline, but moving quickly to apply is still important. This internship is also paid. If you are interested, complete the online application at the link and then email your resume, a cover letter, unofficial transcript, and two letters of recommendation to me at lisa_peck@byu.edu.

  2. Barker Leavitt, an up and coming political consulting and public policy consulting firm. Students can visit their webpage at BARKER LEAVITT. Internship will assist staff with research projects, organizational tasks, and some clerical work. Additionally, they will assist with clients and meetings with Congressional offices and Executive branch agencies. Interns will attend meetings, create reports and memos related to various hearings. Students will experience lobbying Congress and the Executive Branch agencies. Students with a background or passion for public policy should apply. Interested students should assemble an application packet with a cover letter, resume, college transcripts and two letters of recommendation. Community Outreach Internship

The Community Outreach Internship provides an excellent opportunity for students to learn about the internal organization and operations of the Mayor’s Office. This job is designed to provide students with paid professional experience to further their education and training and is academically oriented for the student’s benefit. To qualify students must be enrolled in an accredited school program related to the type of work they are expected to perform. Positions will terminate upon completion of the internship period. Incumbents may deal with confidential information, which is expected to be maintained as confidential and shared only on a need-to-know basis with city employees and elsewhere when authorized by the intern’s designated city supervisor.

Provo City Council Office Internship (Summer, Paid)

Apply by 1/29/25. The Provo City Council is looking for an intern to assist the Executive Director and the Council in a variety of assignments and administrative projects. The internship will begin May 2025. This position involves gathering data and analyzing it to improve the performance and policies of the Municipal Council with regards to Provo City and its citizens.
