
The Simplified Publishing Writing team creates content for a variety of Church publications and resources. These publications include manuals, handbooks, pamphlets, programs, and other documents sponsored by Church departments. Currently, the writing team is hiring for an internship.
An applicant for this internship must be enrolled as a full-time or part-time student in an accredited college or university—or must have finished a degree from an accredited college or university within the last year. The term of this internship opportunity is one year. It is 20 hours per week or less. This position primarily consists of remote work, so an applicant must be able to work remotely effectively and responsibly. There are two in-office days required each month (2nd and 4th Tuesdays) but the intern may work in office any weekday. Office location is at the North Office Building in Salt Lake City, Utah.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Interns on the Simplified Publications Writing staff work with writers, designers, and editors to help produce materials. Under the guidance of full-time writers and editors, they work on several projects at a time and seek to ensure the highest level of quality.
QUALIFICATIONS
Applicants who are either (1) enrolled in a language-related master’s degree program, (2) completing an English or Communications major or minor, or (3) taking classes with a writing emphasis are preferred.
- At least one semester of college-level writing experience
- Strong writing skills
- Strong computer skills, especially in Microsoft Word
- Sound understanding of Church doctrine, history, organization, and policy
- The ability to manage many projects simultaneously
- The ability to give careful attention to detail, sustain concentration for long periods of time, and maintain the highest level of accuracy
- The ability to work well with people.
