We’re a 13+ year company that’s profitable, self-funded, growing, and crazy fun! Grow with us! When you process around 2.5 billion address lookups a day, you can start to feel pretty good about yourself. But that’s just the beginning of where we’re going as a company. The same can be said for our writing—we're already cranking out a lot of quality content but plan to accelerate that even more. If you love weaving a great tale and also have the chops to explain technical details clearly to multiple audiences, we'd love to have you on the team!

As a writer intern at Smarty, your goal is to consistently deliver quality content (with an infusion of fun) that helps keep customers and prospects informed and engaged.

What you'll do

  • Write original content focused on technical articles, blog posts, and case studies.
  • Create thought-provoking content that affirms Smarty as the address data authority.
  • Work closely with the SEO team to strategically plan and write website content that ranks highly in search.
  • Collaborate with all Smarty departments to generate ideas for valuable content.
  • Understand target audiences and write content that speaks to their pain points.
  • Research existing and new topics to make our writing as accurate and detailed as possible.
  • Fact-check data collected during the research process (especially if you use AI to brainstorm or outline).
  • Align content messages with the buyer's journey.
  • Help the marketing team craft and refine new ideas for compelling content.
  • Analyze the effectiveness of published content.
  • Write with the Smarty brand’s voice in mind.
  • Share your knowledge and skills with team members to elevate all writing.
  • Foster a positive, collaborative team environment where people can do their best work

Who you are

  • 1+ year of writing/marketing experience.
  • Working towards a degree in English, Communications, Journalism, or Marketing.
  • Exceptional writing skills with a keen eye for detail and grammar.
  • Ability to write quickly and efficiently while maintaining high content quality.
  • Ability to adapt writing style to match brand voice and communicate effectively with various target audiences.
  • Strong research skills and the ability to distill complex information into clear and concise content.
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.
  • Experience incorporating feedback through both written comments and face-to-face interactions.
  • Understanding of brand voice, buyer journeys, and digital marketing.
