CLOSED Communications Internship with the Lt. Governor's Office

The Lieutenant Governor’s Office seeks a talented student to complete a part-time, paid internship in the areas of administrative support and communications. The intern may work on the following projects:

ADMINISTRATIVE SUPPORT 

  • Work with the team to fill in any gaps on the Briefing Sheets for events. 
  • Open and distribute incoming mail for the Lt. Governor 
  • Receive and obtain signatures for SITLA documents 
  • Record and display international and/or local gifts 
  • Review incoming constituent requests for the Lt. Governor 
  • Errands off the hill as required (applicant must have a current driver’s license) 

COMMUNICATIONS 

  • Work under the direction of the communications specialist to coordinate social media posts. The position may require some after hours and weekend work. 
  • Work closely with the communications specialist and chief of staff to the lieutenant governor to develop and coordinate communications on specific issues.
  • Assist in writing and creating social media posts using X, Facebook and Instagram.
  • Assist in preparing, writing and editing weekly newsletters, blog posts, press releases.
  • Assist in researching and writing briefs for interviews or events for the lieutenant governor. 
  • Take pictures of events attended by the lieutenant governor, and post them in a timely manner to the website. 
  • Monitor and track local news. 
  • Film and edit videos. 

The intern will report to both the Executive Assistant and Communications Specialist to the Lt. Governor. They should expect to work less than 29 hours per week. Some travel will be required using the state vehicle. The ideal candidate will possess strong writing and communication skills and work well in a team setting.

Online Learning Technical Writing Internship

The Online Learning Technical Writing Intern plays a vital role in assisting users of online Seminary, Institute, and BYU Pathway religion courses. Support is provided through email, support tickets, and occasional virtual conference calls. The intern also contributes to writing, revising, and proofreading communications sent to Seminary and Institute employees worldwide. Additionally, they help develop and proofread technical resources for both internal and external audiences. The intern supports various projects assigned by the Course Support Coordinator.
