Digital News Newsletter Intern - Deseret News


The Deseret News is hiring a newsletter intern to work in tandem with the Newsletter Editor to help coordinate and send our portfolio of 15+ newsletters. As the closest digital product to a daily newspaper, newsletters are an editorial project that helps readers find the important news they need to know. This role combines the news judgement of journalism with the pragmatism of audience and marketing work. The person in this role will report to the Newsletter Editor and work closely with that individual on a day-to-day basis.

This is a full-time position starting around May 2, 2022.

  • Have a Bachelor's degree in communication, journalism, English, business or marketing (or are working on it)

National Voices Intern - Deseret News - Features Writing and Editing


The Deseret News National Voices team is continuously looking for talented seasonal student interns to assist in reporting and writing stories. The intern will work with a range of editors to help grow the publication's national brand and contribute principled, values-based ideas to the team. We are especially interested in interns who have a background in editorial writing and long-form journalism. We prefer interns who have previously published journalistic articles.

Interns will work with their supervisor to determine exact starting and ending dates, as well as weekly work schedules. If time off during the semester is needed, that must be coordinated in advance with the supervisor.

Job expectations:

  • Write and publish thoughtful and engaging articles.
  • Be in regular communication with your editors and meet deadlines.  
  • Engage on social media and help grow the Deseret News following.    

National Reporting Intern - Deseret News - Religion and Family Life


The Deseret News national team is continuously looking for talented seasonal student interns to assist in reporting and writing stories. Interns will work with a range of editors to help grow the publication's national brand and contribute thoughtful stories and ideas about religion, politics and family life. We are especially interested in interns who have a background in news writing. We prefer interns who have previously published journalistic articles.

Job expectations:      

  • Write and publish thoughtful and engaging news articles and news roundups.
  • Regularly communicate with your editors and meet deadlines.  
  • Engage on social media to share your work and find sources
