The communications intern will assist the development and communications director at The Refuge Utah, a nonprofit agency serving victims of sexual assault and domestic violence in Utah, Wasatch, and Juab Counties. The internship will consist of designing graphics for print and social media outlets, production and disbursement of newsletters, planning and executing fundraising campaigns, event planning, and increasing community awareness. Applicants must be passionate about the work of The Refuge Utah, have a portfolio of design work, experience with posting on social media, have good writing and editing skills, be comfortable with interactions with the public, work independently and efficiently, be detail oriented, and be eager to learn and share ideas.

Public Policy & Communications Intern (Jan-April)

The Public Policy and Communications Intern will be an integral part of YWCA Utah’s Policy Team and will support advocacy efforts during the 2024 Utah Legislative General Session. The position will run from January through April 2024. The Public Policy and Communications Intern will have the opportunity to effect meaningful policy change, gain experience in nonprofit policy advocacy, and make valuable connections among community and state leaders.

HEAL Utah Legislative Internship (Stipend)

The Legislative Intern works closely with the Community Engagement Manager and HEAL Utah staff to promote renewable energy and protect Utah from dirty air and toxic waste. Most of the Legislative Interns’ responsibilities will include work at the Utah State Capitol during the legislative session and outreach and research. In the spring of 2023, we expect this to mix in-person and virtual.
