This is a paid internship and is a hybrid position, partially in office (Salt Lake City, Utah) and partially remote, a minimum of 20 hours per week. The anticipated length of the internship is through the end of December.

Boncom is an advertising and communications agency. We develop innovative and strategic campaigns both traditionally and in the digital realm. We are fortunate to work for great organizations that are cause-oriented and who strive to do good in the world. Our staff is comprised of exceptionally talented team members who bring these clients' meaningful messages to life.

We are currently looking for an energetic self-starter to join our team as a web copywriting intern. In this position, you will be a content partner for the web team, learning to craft clear, compelling, and conversion-focused copy that engages target audiences. You'll gain hands-on experience applying SEO (Search Engine Optimization) and AEO (Answer Engine Optimization) best practices to maximize visibility across traditional search results, featured snippets, and AI-powered answer engines.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Work on the creative team with a Mentor to understand how to create exceptional web copy that serves the purpose of promoting the client's message, cause, product, or service according to the strategic creative plan
  • Write and edit copy across landing pages, blog posts, and digital campaigns with conversion goals in mind
  • Learn and apply SEO best practices including keyword research, metadata, and content structure
  • Format content to capture featured snippets and "People Also Ask" placements
  • Gain exposure to Answer Engine Optimization (AEO), structuring content so AI-powered platforms like Chat GPT, Perplexity, Gemini, and voice assistants can extract and cite authoritative answers
  • Ideation and execution of creative assignments; assisting as requested by Mentor
  • Internal presentation
  • Portfolio development

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Student pursuing a bachelor's degree in advertising, communications, marketing, or similar field, or a recent graduate (up to one year) of an above program
  • Current portfolio of creative work (web writing samples preferred but not required)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Curiosity about how search engines and AI are shaping content discovery

A Few Cool Perks…

  • College credit eligible
  • Mentored by highly skilled advertising agency professionals
  • Part in-office (Salt Lake City, Utah) and part remote position
  • Great creative environment with fun culture and great people
  • Fully stocked kitchen in office

When you apply be sure to include:

  • Resume
  • Cover letter, explaining what you hope to get out of this internship
