The Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT) is dedicated to keeping Utah moving by innovating and maintaining our state’s transportation systems. We’re seeking a motivated and creative Social Media & Communications Intern to join our team. This role offers a unique opportunity for a local college student to gain valuable experience in public communications, social media management, and content creation.
Principal Duties
As an intern in the Communications Division, you will:
- Assist in creating, scheduling, and publishing content across UDOT’s social media platforms (Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, etc.).
- Develop engaging content.
- Monitor and respond to comments and messages, fostering positive relationships with our online community.
- Help execute social media campaigns that promote UDOT’s goals and initiatives.
Minimum Qualifications
In order to qualify, you must:
- Be currently be enrolled in a degree program in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, or a related field.
- Be familiar with social media platforms and passionate about using them to communicate important information.
- Have excellent written communication skills with an ability to create clear, concise, and engaging content.
- Have the ability to think creatively while managing multiple tasks and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- A willingness to collaborate with UDOT’s communications team and contribute to our shared goals.

- Working Conditions - Risks found in the typical office setting, which is adequately lighted, heated and ventilated, e.g., safe use of office equipment, avoiding trips and falls, observing fire regulations, etc.
- Physical Requirements - Typically, the employee may sit comfortably to perform the work; however, there may be some walking; standing; bending; carrying light items; driving an automobile, etc. Special physical demands are not required to perform the work.
