Social Media Assistant (Student Employee -Internship Credit Available)

Do you love creating engaging social media content and connecting with your audience? Are you thrilled when you see increased engagement? Are you organized and a strategic planner? Digital Media and Communications (DMaC) for the College of Humanities is seeking a social media assistant to help manage and grow our social media efforts on Instagram and Facebook. Individuals on our team participate in all aspects of the strategy, planning, and development of DMaC messaging. Additionally, our program functions as an internship for students desiring internship credit.

Responsibilities:

  • Create social media content that engages our audience
  • Manage content strategy and development for multiple platforms
  • Analyze data to make innovative recommendations for DMaC's ongoing social media strategy
  • Organize and schedule social media content created by yourself and our social media team
  • Track and make reports for the College of Humanities website analytics (Click-throughs from social media, etc.)
  • Manage comments, materials, and followers
  • Attend university meetings and College events as needed

Qualifications:

  • Skilled in planning, creating, and executing social media campaigns on Instagram and Facebook
  • Superior social media copywriting skills
  • Experience tracking analytics and engagement on Facebook and Instagram
  • Skilled with the creation of original, engaging graphics and videos on Canva and the Adobe Creative Suite
  • Organized, creative, and self-motivated
  • Willing to receive feedback in a mentored, experiential learning environment
  • Ability to take ownership of work and dependably manage priorities
  • Ability to work independently and with a team
  • Ability to work consistent hours (20 to 40 spring/summer; 20 fall/winter) and attend weekly staff meetings
  • Available for staff meeting Thursdays at 11:00 a.m.

The Social Media and Cultural Analyst Intern will work to increase member and general public awareness of family history, serve as an ambassador for temple and family history work as it relates to the gathering of Israel on both sides of the veil, and provide insight regarding culture and best practices to enable FamilySearch to effectively create experiences for patrons to engage in family history work and discover their ancestors.
