CLOSED Family Search SEO/GEO Editing and Publishing Internship

Join a fun, tightknit, and highly functional team focused on creating, reviewing, and publishing excellent written content that inspires people around the world to engage in family history. As the SEO/GEO Editing and Publishing Intern, you will support editorial workflows, strengthen online content performance, and help others make meaningful family connections. This full-time, year‑long internship offers hands‑on experience in content editing, SEO, online publishing, project management, and analytics within the FamilySearch and Family History Department.

Responsibilities

  • Provide editorial support by editing article drafts and researching assigned topics for blog and newsroom content. May write new content as assigned.
  • Learn and apply SEO/GEO best practices, including keyword research, identifying high-use search terms, and helping develop content strategies for blog articles and landing pages.
  • Manage article projects from ideation through editing, fact checking, review, and publication.
  • Prioritize deadlines and ensure timely progress.
  • Support online publishing tasks, including finding images that follow the FamilySearch style guide, uploading content into BrightSpot, maintaining copyright documentation, and coordinating approvals or corrections.
  • Assist with tracking and reporting, including maintaining documentation, organizing filing systems, monitoring page analytics, and making optimizations to improve organic content performance.
  • Maintain and create reference materials such as training guides, support documents, and SharePoint content using WYSIWYG editors.
  • Provide general blog and newsroom support—writing, editing, preparing content for publication, answering comments, and assisting volunteers and service missionaries in understanding the purpose and impact of their work.

Qualifications

  • Some experience with editing and/or writing
  • Strong interest in or knack for keyword research pursuant to online content creation
  • Experience with a WYSIWYG editor or CMS system a plus (Wordpress, Brightspot, etc.)
  • Experience with SEO analytic tools a plus (Adobe Analytics, Searchlight, SEMRush, Google Adwords, etc)
  • Knowledge of Adobe Photoshop and previous image editing experience a plus
  • Bachelor’s (or near completion) in Marketing, Editing, PR, Journalism, English or related field. Must be a current or recent (within a year) student.
  • Eligible for a full-time internship with benefits for a one‑year duration, beginning in late March or April 2025.

This intern will be responsible for assisting in marketing and project management tasks, including writing presentations and project proposals, tracking results, and working independently as well as a team on other projects and tasks. The ideal candidate should be creative, solution-oriented, data-driven and have excellent communication skills. The length of the internship will be one year.
